This page is a small compilation of works in progress and projects that I’ve been involved in that are not necessarily directly sculpture related. Aside from all of these projects being really fun, it is so important to me to be involved in and learn from as many different creative possesses as possible. Working with many expressive forms and working collaboratively gives such a great opportunity for growth and experience. The point for me is to be involved in exploration and to have my hand on the pulse of life.

Land of Shadows Commision at Rock City Make Work Grant The Land of Shadow is a multi media show created and directed by New York painter Daniel Fay. As an artist with a long love of puppetry Daniel traveled to Indonesia to study traditional puppet making there. On his return Daniel brought the idea of creating and performing a show using many different forms of puppetry (some of which Daniel created) to drive a complicated content dealing with internal struggle and transformation. He asked Brooklyn, NY composer Andrew Livingston (Thing New York, Mike Doughty Band) to create the music for the project and to do collaborative
In February of 2010 I was offered the opportunity to submit a proposal for a sculpture installation at Rock City Gardens. I spent quite a bit of time working on various sketches and ideas before visiting the place where the piece would be installed with no great success. However on visiting the site the ideas and forms quickly unfolded. The proposal was accepted and I was offered a huge oak tree for the project. It was cut into eleven-foot sections that we moved to the sight with a back how and a flat bed truck. (Thank you, Tony!!) I have used chainsaws, gouges, drawknives, angel grinders and sanders and the over all project time is three months. There has been a stop motion camera shooting constant images that have been put into a small movie you can check out here.

improvisation throughout the performance.
I was asked to create a sculptural set inside of which the audience sat and the performance took place, operate puppets and do some improve acting. The project was joint by Brooklyn, NY artist Melanie Paterson (costume design and performer), artist and puppeteer Emily Leshner and multimedia artist Will Jackson (video artist). We preformed five sold out shows in Brooklyn and the show has started to take on it’s own life.

to create poured aluminum forms in place of the marble and to intentionally rust the outer mild steel forms.
To build the outer forms I cut geometric shapes out of mild steel and welded them together to create organic forms. I got the idea from reading about the golden mean and fractals. The process does not involve using true fractals but it does create organics out of geometrics, which I think is pretty dope.
My interest in the mother and child relationship stems from my desire to communicate about the importance of our relationships with each other and the world. The relationship between a mother and child symbolizes the closest connection possible, being that the two are totally physically connected in the child’s origin.

When the project is finished I will upload some images.

I am truly grateful for the support of Create Here in this project.

Photo by The Rock City Kodak Team In 2009 I was awarded one of the MakeWork Grants offered by Create Here. The project was originally to consist of steel sculptures inset with marble forms representing the pregnant form. In the first concept the three forms where pretty much identical and fairly simple in design. After some thought, I decided I wanted to have each form represent a deferent point surrounding the birth cycle. The use of marble was scratched when I realized that some rusting is unavoidable with mild steel. Marble will absorb the rust and cause fairly deep staining. Now the plan is
